Export The Site
Import The Site
Now that you have your export file, it’s time to move your website to a new location. Whether you’re transferring it to a different server or host, the steps remain the same.
To start, you need to set up a new WordPress site at your destination. If it’s a new site, just set up the hosting and domain, and install WordPress in your new account. If you’re moving an existing site to a new host and want to avoid any downtime,
there are a few extra steps to follow. The method you choose will depend on your hosting provider, but the goal is to import the site before changing the domain name.
My preferred method is to obtain the IP address of the new account and temporarily map it to the domain using the hosts file on my computer. This way, the import can be completed, and only then should the domain name be changed.
